Manual osteopathy is a hands-on therapy that considers how muscles, joints, fascia, posture, and movement work together. It uses gentle techniques to reduce discomfort, improve mobility, ease tension, and support daily function.
The four main pillars are:
1. Osteoarticular techniques
Gentle joint movements and stretching improve mobility. They may help with back or neck pain, stiff joints, reduced range of motion, postural problems, and minor sports injuries.
2. Fascial or myofascial techniques
Light pressure and stretching are applied to muscles and connective tissue. These techniques may help with muscle tightness, reduced flexibility, repetitive strain, and movement restrictions.
3. Visceral manipulation
Gentle contact is applied around the abdomen, ribs, diaphragm, and pelvis. It may help persistent digestive or organ-related symptoms, and relieve tissue tension affecting posture, breathing, trunk movement, or musculoskeletal comfort.
4. Craniosacral therapy
Very light touch is used around the head, neck, spine, and sacrum. It may help with neck tension, jaw discomfort, tension headaches, upper-back tightness, and relaxation.
